Mission Statement

The Mission of the Black Psychiatrists of Greater New York and Associates, LLP, a multidisciplinary and multicultural organization, is to expand American Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences so they are more responsive to the needs of Peoples of African decent.




 







•  The Mission of the Black Psychiatrists of Greater New York and Associates, LLP, a multidisciplinary and multicultural organization, is to expand American Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences so they are more responsive to the mental health needs of Peoples of African descent. We will work with all individuals, organizations, and government agencies towards these goals. We recognize that by helping people of African descent, we will help all people.

•  The Science of Psychiatry - Our goal is to contribute to the growth of the science and academics of American Psychiatry such that they more systematically include contributions in the field by and about people of African descent and thus help all peoples.
 
•  Access to Services -- We are committed to making adequate mental health care available to all in need. Towards that goal, we seek to eliminate the disparity in distribution and quality of mental health services available to peoples of African descent and all people, who are underserved.

•  We will encourage and advocate for the use of interactive computing technologies to facilitate the delivery of quality mental health services as well as preventive mental health services to all people who are underserved.

•  BPGNY and Associates will provide educational opportunities , i.e. lectures, audio and interactive video-conferencing, videotapes, workshops, conferences, institutes, technical assistance, training, and consultation to faith-based organizations, community groups, parent associations, city and state agencies.

•  We will translate research and promote best practice guidelines. We will conduct research, cultivate partnerships and promote collaborations on specific projects.

•  We will advocate for the development of policies that support peoples of African descent and all people.

•  In all these areas we will utilize sound cultural competency principles and guidelines .

•  Professional Needs of Partners and Associates -- We aim to help make the profession of American Psychiatry a more rewarding career for peoples of African descent and all people.

•  The BPGNY & Associates envisions an organization where its members are nurtured personally and professionally .
